SRI HARMANDIR SAHIB

This most beautiful holy Sikh temple was constructed by fifth Sikh guru Arjun Dev,then they had given a name to this temple “Harimandir” and people with due respect started to call it “Sri Harimandir Sahib”। An emperor called Maharaja Ranjit Singh covered it with gold and “Harimandir “(Temple of God) became “Swarna Mandir” (Temple of Gold and popularly known as Golden Temple).

The 52-metre square-based Hari Mandir, to which the causeway leads, stands on a 20-metre square platform। Its lower parts are of white marble, but the upper parts are covered with plates of gilded copper. In the interior, on the ground floor, is the Guru Granth Sahib, placed under a gorgeous canopy, studded with jewels.

On the second storey is a pavilion known as Shish Mahal or Mirror Room, so designed as to have a square opening in the centre to view from there the ground floor, with the further provision of a narrow circumambulatory around the square opening। The interior of the Shish Mahal is ornamented with small pieces of mirror, of various sizes and shapes, skilfully inlaid in the ceiling, and walls richly embellished with designs, mostly floral in character.

Further above the Shish Mahal is again a small square pavilion, considerably small both at its base as well as in its elevation, surmounted by a low fluted golden dome, lined at its base with a number of smaller domes. The walls of the two lower storeys, forming parapets, terminate with several rounded pinnacles. There are four chhatris or kiosks at the corners. The combination of several dozens of large, medium and miniature domes of gilded copper create a unique and dazzling effect, enhanced by the reflection in the water below.

SHIROMANI GURDWARA PARBANDHAK COMMITTEE

S.G.P.C. ( SHIROMANI GURDWARA PARBANDHAK COMMITTEE) under the provisions of Sikh Gurdwara Act 1925 controls all the Historical Gurdwaras as well as Gurdwaras under Section 87 of this act. Everybody knows SGPC which is also called Parliament of the Sikh Nation has become a mouthorgan of Shiromani Akali Dal. The chief of SGPC Mr. Avtar Singh Makker is simply a puppet who thinks, speaks and works according to the wishes of Mr. Prakash Singh Badal.

OPERATION RUINSTAR

SHIROMANI GURDWARA PARBANDHAK COMMITTEE should take care of this holy shrine "Sri Harmandir Sahib" but they are busy enough in their state politics affairs.

Once upon a time there were so many beautiful floral murals on the wall behind the northern narrow stairway leading to the top of the shrine। But it does not exist now a day, along with that so many others has lost their existence। You can see all those photographs I had taken almost 32 years back here.

Jaratkari work involved the inlaying of coloured cut-stones in marble and is to be found on the lower portion of the exterior walls of the temple। But this one also is almost ruined by their (so called) caretakers।

A MRITSAR

Now the most disturbing factor is that holy water AMRIT of Sri Harimandir Sahib , AMRITSAR (Pool of nectar) is not even potable. After first water test I did not believe that. Then I went for the second one and got the same result. According to the lab reports this water is suitable enough for irrigation but not for drinking.

This bitter truth is going to haunt more than 2 crore persons but who is going to take the responsibility for that.
Corruption is ruling over all the political parties and leaders. You can’t see any exception over there from Kargill to Ramsetu. Akalies with the help of BJP want to rule Sikhs by taking control over SGPC and that’s all because SGPC is the most appropriate organization to exploit sikh centiments and make them fool for their politicians gains. Congress leaders are much more interested in taking control of SGPC. Comrades never visit temples so why should they bother about this issue. They know very well that water pollution or paintings at holy places have nothing to do with imperialism and proletariat. Wheresoever possibility of huge kickback or commission exists Indian politicians take care of those subjects only. So whose problem is this anyway?
